First Lady Michelle Obama revealed to GMA’s Robin Roberts her worst mommy moment during the first White House Working Families Summit on Monday.

Like many working mothers of young children; she was striving to attain work-life balance, when unfortunately her babysitter quit. She says it was the worst time of her motherhood and contemplated leaving her job. After receiving a call from the  University of Chicago Hospital about a new opportunity she had no choice but to bring her 4 month old Sasha to the interview with her.

“Who I was at the time was a breastfeeding mother of a 4-month-old — and I didn’t have a babysitter, so I promptly took Sasha to the interview with me. And I thought, look, this is who I am. I’ve got a husband who’s away. I’ve got two little babies. They are my priority. If you want me to do the job, you’ve got to pay me to do the job and you’ve got to give me flexibility, and flexibility means that I will work my tail off for you, but you better pay me and value my family.”

Now that Barack is in the White House work-life balance is easier for the First Lady now. She sympathizes with many working mothers and fathers that are unable have same the flexibility and hopes that the White House Working Families Summit makes strides to bring awareness.
