Former TV Judge Joe Brown was arrested in Memphis on Monday after reportedly getting “verbally abusive” in court.

The 66 year-old TV star, who is now running for the District Attorney General’s office, showed up in juvenile court to speak on behalf of a juvenile in a child support case. He was waiting for the court to bring the child’s documents, but was turned away by court staff, who informed Brown they had no record of the case in question.

Brown reportedly lost it … becoming verbally abusive and was warned several times to quiet down.

Witnesses say Brown nearly started a riot in the courtroom and was brought out in handcuffs.  Brown was given two days in jail for contempt of court, but that increased to three days when he once again started yelling, and was forcibly removed from the courtroom.

Brown was on the bench for 10 years, leaving in 2000 to devote his full attention to his then two-year-old nationally syndicated television show that was canceled last year.
