Jay Z‘s relatively new agency Roc Nation Sports just scored a major win in the realm of baseball. The company just signed New York Yankees star pitcher CC Sabathia.

The 33-year-old pitcher still has three years left on his current contract with the Yankees which guarantees him $76 million. However, when it comes time to renegotiate his contract in 2017, Jay Z and Roc Nation Sports president Juan Perez will be representing Sabathia. Perez said, “CC exemplifies everything Roc Nation looks for in an athlete and a partner.”
Sabathia is currently a cash cow with various endorsements. He has a deal with Jordan Brand and has appeared in commercials for Pepsi and Subway for the past few years. Roc Nation Sports aims to continue Sabathia’s winning streak with the endorsement deals.
While Sabathia signing to Jay Z may come as a surprise to some, we’re not surprised because the two have been friends for a while. In fact, when we interviewed CC Sabathia a few years ago, he spoke fondly of his friend Jay Z.
