  • 1966: Dr. Seuss’ ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ aired for the first time on television on CBS
  • 1971: Rev. Jesse Jackson revealed the launch of Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity) in Chicago
  • 1985: ‘Beverly Hills Cop was the highest grossing movie in the year. It made $229.9  million in tickets sold alone
  • 2002: BET’s founder Robert Johnson was chosen to be the new owner of the NBA’s Charlotte, N.C. franchise, making him the first Black majority owner in the NBA and in the four major sports organizations
