The Sundance Film Festival announced its competition lineups for its 30th edition in January, and among the selections in competition is writer/director Justin Simien’s “Dear White People.”

The film stars Tyler WilliamsTessa ThompsonTeyonah Parris and Brandon Bell as four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over an “African-American” themed party thrown by white students.

With a tongue-and-cheek tone, the film “explores racial identity in post-racial America while weaving a story about forging one’s unique path in the world,” according to festival organizers.
