One person was shot outside of a hotel on the city’s northwest side this morning. The shooting was reported just before 6 a.m. at the Quality Inn and Suites in the 5000 block of Lafayette Road. Investigators gave few details about what may have prompted the shooting as well as The medical condition of the unidentified victim.
The teen accused of raping a 93-year-old Anderson woman in July has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.
 A Madison County judge found 17-year-old Iquise Taylor cannot stand trial for the alleged rape of an elderly woman.
In August, Taylor was formally charged with rape, burglary, criminal confinement and strangulation. He was waived to adult court and will now be sent to a state psychiatric facility until he is deemed competent to stand trial.
Coats Says Shutdown Shouldn’t Have Happened

 (Indianapolis, IN)  —  Indiana Senator Dan Coats says the government shutdown shouldn’t have happened and will end when the American people come forward and demand a solution.  He says the political system is designed for negotiation and there isn’t any right now.  Coats called the shutdown “a failure of government to govern.”
Hit And Run Driver Arrested
 (Indianapolis, IN)  —  The woman accused of hitting and killing an elderly man in a wheelchair in behind bars.  IMPD says Brandie Thompson kept going after the accident Wednesday night.  The man was crossing the street near the intersection of Washington and Traub when he was struck.
