Officials say a Lafayette school bus carrying special needs kids rolled over on Interstate 65 Thursday afternoon.

The semi was changing lanes Thursday afternoon when it struck the bus, which went into the median and rolled over.

Police on the scene say five kids and seven adults are injuries. All are non-life threatening injuries.

Methodist Hospital says they have six of those patients.

Indiana State Police say a box truck hit the school bus and left the scene.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. The location is near the 128 mile marker by the Interstate 865 interchange. Southbound I-65 is being diverted onto Interstate 865.

Boone County dispatchers requested additional medics to the scene. Wayne township medics said they were assisting police with the crash.
