Chris Tucker is coming to the BET family.

The network announced that Rush Hour star Chris Tucker will host the BET Awards 2013, joining the ranks of past hosts Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart, Queen Latifah, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and many others.

“We cannot wait for Chris to set fire to the BET Awards stage with his unique brand of mayhem,” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials. “We’ve been chasing him for years and we couldn’t be happier that he is hosting the show in this special year: the year we embark on the three-day-long BET Experience.”

“I am honored to be asked to host this year’s BET Awards,” says Tucker. “I’m looking forward to being part of a really great show.”

This year’s BET Awards caps off the BET Experience, the three-day event featuring a headlining performance by Beyoncé, comedy showcases, live tapings of 106 & Park and much more.

Tucker rose to fame as one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood for the Rush Hour series. He also starred in last year’s Oscar-winning film Silver Linings Playbook, his first film after a five year hiatus.

The BET Awards airs live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on June 30, 8 p.m. Eastern.
