POLICE STOP TRUCK CARRYING SPOILED FOOD TO INDIANAPOLIS
A traffic stop led Authorities to find and destroyed 200 pounds of contaminated food.
State Troopers stopped a truck on I-74 in Ripley County for a traffic violation.
As the truck’s driver pulled into a rest area for inspection, the trooper noted brown liquid was leaking from the truck’s back door.
Boxes of vegetables were sitting on top of boxes with raw chicken. Egg roll fillings, poultry and cabbage unfit for human consumption was also on board. The inspector also discovered a whole chicken lying in a box of egg roll wrappers.
Police said the food was being delivered to Chinese restaurants in Indianapolis, Mooresville, Avon and Plainfield.
IPS TO OFFER STUDENTS MEALS ON SPRING BREAK
Indianapolis Public Schools students can eat breakfast and lunch free for during the first week of Spring Break at 19 IPS schools. (This is the first week of the two-week spring break.)
IPS says they will only be offering the food service during the week of March 25, That’s next week.
GEICO TO BRING 1,200 NEW JOBS TO CENTRAL INDIANA
GEICO is bringing 1200 new jobs to Central Indiana, by opening a customer service center in Carmel.
GEICO says it will invest millions to lease, renovate and equip a 109,000 square foot building on 103rd St.
The company plans to hire 400 people this year and will begin recruiting immediately.
MAN DRIVES DRUNK WITH CHILDREN IN CAR
An Indianapolis man is facing multiple felony charges after he was found driving drunk with children in the car, police said.
39 year old Patrick Pride was pulled over on Interstate 70 Saturday night after speeding past a state trooper, and attempting to pass a vehicle using the shoulder.
State Police said they were three kids in the car– ages 2, 4 and 13, — They didn’t have seat belts on and Pride smelled like alcohol.
Pride was later arrested on a felony charges.
DANIELS TO ELIMINATE RAISES AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY
Former Governor and Purdue University President Mitch Daniels is eliminating raises for administrators earning more than $50,000 annually for two years.
He says it will save the university $5 million over the next two years.
Daniels says Purdue will announce additional cost-cutting moves in the next few weeks as it finds ways to cover the estimated $40 million cost of freezing tuition rates through 2015. That will help pay for scholarships or a longer tuition freeze.
INFANT FOUND IN CREEK IS A BOY
Homicide Detectives have learned that The deceased infant found in an east side creek Sunday is a boy.
Detectives also determined the boy is around the age of a newborn. However, they are waiting pathology tests to determine the baby’s race.
The cause and manner of the infant’s death is still being investigating and pending autopsy results.
Police are searching for the infant’s mother for questioning and due to concerns regarding her physical and emotional health.

TERRY CURRY PUTS HIS SUPPORT BEHIND MASS TRANSIT
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry has announced his support for mass transit in Central Indiana.
Curry stated a public, robust transit system would allow witnesses and victims to have better access to the Downtown Prosecutor’s Office and could help reduce families’ household expenses.
The prosecutor’s office joins 156 businesses and organizations in support of a public vote on mass transit funding.
