Conner Bird, the son of former Pacers coach and executive Larry Bird, was arrested Sunday by IU campus police after an altercation with a woman who told police she was Conner Bird’s former girlfriend.

Indiana University Police arrested 21-year-old Bird, on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief, battery with injury, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

The 20-year-old woman, told Indiana University Police that she and Bird, who police say is an IU student, had been arguing, first at Bird’s Smallwood Apartment complex, and later in the parking lot of Memorial Stadium. She said Bird threw a cell phone at her at the apartment, which hit her on her wrist.

She walked from Bird’s apartment to her home, where she said Bird was waiting for her. She then rode with Bird in his car from there to the White Lot of Memorial Stadium, where she told IU Police another argument started. When she got out of the car to walk home, she said Bird chased her through the lot, attempting to run her over.

The woman found another woman sitting in a nearby car, and she drove the ex-girlfriend away from Bird until they flagged down an IUPD officer. Campus police then located, interviewed and arrested Bird, who was booked into the Monroe County Jail.

This is Conner Bird’s second arrest in Bloomington.

The first came in October, 2011, according to court records. Bird was charged with underage drinking and disorderly conduct, paid a fine and entered a diversion program.
