1. Stop trying to compete with your past self. You aren’t the same person you were when you were 21 and your body has changed too.

2. Plan your week. Would you tell a business associate you might have a lunch meeting with them around 2 or 3 ish on Wednesday? Nope. Put your exercise time into your weekly planner.

3. Get your Family, friends, or personal trainer involved. It’s easier to quit on yourself then to quit on others. Have motivating, determined, like-minded individuals help keep you accountable.

4. Take some  pride in what you’re doing!  Change the way you think, try saying “Sorry I’m not available, I’m taking that time to invest in my health and future, through hard work and discipline”

5. Just show up! Really the hardest part is just getting to your gym or class. Just get there then deal with the rest.

6. Eat well. Don’t stress about every last calorie. Just make conscious healthy choices. What’s healthier an apple fritter or an apple?

7. Listen to your body. If you are sore, exhausted and fatigued, listen to your body and slow down, take a day to recover and continue the following day. No one should be training at maximum intensity everyday of his or her life.

8. Have FUN! When we are children all we want to do is dance, play sports, chase each other around schoolyards, throw things, catch things, jump over things and do it all again tomorrow with a big cheeky grin on our face. Get in touch with your inner child, do the things you enjoy doing, do them frequently, and most importantly have fun doing it!
