Across the nation, thousands have come together to show support for Trayvon Martin – the 17-year-old gunned down in Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer. Martin was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a iced tea and Skittles. Controversy soon arose as the neighborhood watch volunteer was not arrested for questioning.

Indianapolis is no exception to raising awareness of the teenager’s death. I attended the rally at the American Legion Mall where thousands of  people gathered in hoodies with signs, bottles of iced tea and Skittles. Attendees were enthusiastically chanting, “Justice” to the question “What do we want now?”

Overall, the rally demonstrated just how strong Indianapolis is as a very supportive community.
