The embattled band director of the famed Florida A&M University Marching 100 is fighting back after being fired last week following the death of a drum major in an alleged hazing incident after the Florida Classic football game in Orlando.

Robert Champion, a 26-year-old from Atlanta who was slated to be head drum major next year, died during what some have said was a ritual called “Crossing the C Bus.” Initially, authorities said no foul play was suspected. Now officials in Orange County, Florida are looking to possibly charge some individuals in the death of Champion, who was majoring in music education at the historically black university in Tallahassee.
