Do This

  • Communicate with one another. Completely open communication is key to establishing long-lasting trust in your relationship. You and your partner are a team going through life, and you must always remember to talk to your teammate.

  • 2

Develop a mutual respect for one another. Underappreciation and lack of respect can literally crumble a relationship. Respecting one another includes that quick phone call when you’re late from work as well as adjusting the household chores according to each other’s schedules. It also means not taking your partner for granted.

  • 3

Compromise whenever possible. In a relationship, your happiness is your partner’s and vice versa. Compromise on things that mean more to him and less to you, and expect the same in return.

  • 4

Enjoy the little things together. Remember that not every outing has to be an event. Take time to enjoy simply watching a rented movie together, sharing a favorite candy or cooking a meal together. These are the things that make lasting memories and stronger bonds.

  • 5

Set goals for your relationship and yourself and encourage your partner to do the same. Having goals will give you both something to constantly strive for, keeping your relationship fresh and you as an individual feeling accomplished.

  • 6

Add some spice to your love life. Do something spontaneous in the bedroom once in a while to keep things exciting, and don’t forget about the little things. Caress her shoulder briefly as you walk by or send a text saying simply, “I miss you” or “I can’t stop thinking about you.” Your intimate relationship with your partner does not have to be purely sexual, and it definitely shouldn’t be boring.

  • 7
Avoid getting so wrapped up in the daily grind of life. Yes, the bills are always due, and no one really likes having to pay them, but do they have to come between the love you and your partner share.
