RECAP: Celebrating Black Excellence at Our Black History Month Honoree Event | Melanin Magic
On the evening of February 27th, an inspiring celebration of black excellence unfolded at Cafe, where 106.7 WTLC, Hot 100.9 & Praise indy came together to honor 10 extraordinary individuals during Black History Month. The event was sponsored by Eskenazi Health & The Mind Trust.
From 5:30 to 8 PM, a room filled with pride and admiration recognized the incredible contributions of these honorees, whose work spans activism, entrepreneurship, education, and cultural innovation.
Honorees:
- Matthew Steward, founder and president of Steward Speakers, Inc.
- Jessica Brand, accomplished freelance marketing director
- Dominic Dorsey, educator and accomplice in the mission of liberation and social justice
- Tamara Franklin, educator and a director of community events
- Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr., a renowned preacher
- Trevor Jackson, Actor & Artist
- Shannon Williams, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President To The Mind Trust
- Al London, Community Impact Director, SR, SVP
- Tracey Jackson, Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Impact at 16 Tech Innovation District

The event was a true collaboration, with Hot 100.9, 106.7 WTLC, and Praise Indy lending their support to create an evening to remember.
