Michael Jackson Biopic at Lionsgate Likely to Be Pushed Deep Into 2026

Lionsgate’s CEO announced during the Q4 2025 earnings call that the Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” will likely be moved out of the fiscal year, impacting financial results but strengthening the fiscal ’27 slate. The film, starring Jaafar Jackson, is expected to debut after April 1, 2026, possibly split into two parts. The $155 million budget project features a star-studded cast including Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Larenz Tate, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, and others portraying key figures in Jackson’s life and career. Despite wrapping principal photography in May 2024, the film’s script is undergoing revisions ahead of reshoots.
