Boil Water Advisory Issued for Indianapolis East Side: Precautions Needed

BlackIndy Live is reporting A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for residents and businesses on the east side of Indianapolis due to a significant water main break near 22nd St. & Dr. Andrew J. Brown Ave.

The break has raised concerns about potential contamination, and citizens in the affected area are being urged to take immediate action to ensure their water is safe to use.

What You Need to Know:

  • Advisory Area:
    • North: Fall Creek Pkwy N Dr.
    • South: CSX railroad tracks (Southeastern Ave)
    • East: Shadeland Ave & Arlington Ave
    • West: South Arsenal Ave & Spruce St

While there has been no official confirmation of contamination, the risk of unsafe water remains, and residents in this area should treat tap water as unsafe until further notice.

Immediate Precautions:

  • DO NOT drink tap water without boiling it first for at least 3 minutes.
  • Use boiled or bottled water for all drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes.
  • Be sure to follow these guidelines to avoid potential health risks from contaminated water.

This boil water advisory will remain in effect at least until noon on Saturday, March 29, pending further testing and updates from Citizens Energy Group.
