Is Richardson’s Time Running Out In Indy?

The Indianapolis Colts suffered another loss to the Houston Texans yesterday, 23-20.
It was a game that featured the full Anthony Richardson experience. Some gorgeous throws (many of them dropped), some wild inaccuracy and inconsistency, and some late-game heroics that ultimately fell short. It also featured what is quickly becoming the most controversial moment of Richardson’s young career, when he pulled himself out of the game on a long 3rd-and-goal, later explaining that he was “tired”.
That moment, and his explanation after, set off a wave of criticism from former players and fans alike.
Even head coach Shane Steichen and center Ryan Kelly admitted that they spoke to Richardson about that sequence.
So could the Colts be running out of patience with Richardson? During Monday’s media availability, Steichen didn’t commit to starting his 2nd-year quarterback against Minnesota.
Regardless of what happens, the Colts find themselves in an unenviable spot. Ride with Richardson, and potentially risk losing the fanbase and the locker room? Or make the move to Flacco, and officially wave the white flag on the Richardson experiment (which likely leads to several people losing their jobs).
Strap in folks. Things could get interesting.
