The daughter of late activist Rodney King wants to help African-American fathers spend time with their children. Lora King has launched the I am a King scholarship program, which gives grants to black fathers to fund outings with their kids. Its mission is to help the dads play a more active role in their kids’ lives. King was brutally beaten by a group of white Los Angeles police officers during his 1991 arrest. The incident triggered the 1992 L.A. riots.
