Police Officer Fatally Shoots Black Man During Traffic Stop Near St. Paul

The family of Philando Castile has reached a settlement with the city of St. Anthony, Minnesota for $3 million dollars. After the fact, that former officer Jeronimo Yanez was acquitted June 16 of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers safety. Castile was killed July 6, 2016 during a traffic stop, and his girlfriend streamed the shooting’s aftermath on Facebook Live. The family will take part of the funds and create a Philando Castile Relief Foundation.

According to CNN

“No amount of money could ever replace Philando. With resolution of the claims the family will continue to deal with their loss through the important work of the Philando Castile Relief Foundation.”
