Good day to you. Let’s begin by talking about what to expect for the students of the state’s second largest school district on Election Day. Indianapolis Public Schools announced there will be no class for their students on Election Day.
Early voting is in the process of wrapping today in Marion County at 12 Noon and that leaves just one more day until the general election, then it’s up to voters. Indiana’s candidates for U.S. Senate are wrapping-up their campaigns on this busy Monday. Democrat Evan Bayh is planning to follow-up his Sunday circuit of churches with voter meetings all day. Republican Todd Young will make stops in Evansville, Terre Haute, and in Indy later in the day.

Congressman Andre Carson and two of the gubernatorial candidates for governor, Democrat John Gregg and Republican Eric Holcomb, spent time with the community at a special early voting event on Sunday at the Julia Carson Transit Center, in honor of the late-radio broadcaster and our colleague Amos Brown. One of Brown’s specialties was politics and he loved this time of year to help turn out the vote encouraging this community’s voters to exercise their rights at the polls. He did this by holding intriguing conversations with candidates and other political operatives. The Indianapolis stations of Radio One broadcast for several hours on site in his honor to help turn out the vote on the last weekend day of early voting which was also the one-year anniversary of Brown’s death.

An Indianapolis man shot by police in Chicago is dead. Officials say on Saturday, Joshua Beal got into an altercation with both an off-duty firefighter and off-duty police officer after being told he was illegally blocking the fire lane in front of a fire house. Officials say shots were fired at Beal when a uniformed police sergeant, who was on his way to work, noticed Beal had a weapon and refused to drop it. Beal was in Chicago for a funeral.
A 16-year-old girl, shot while sitting a car, is now recovering. Police say the shooting happened early Sunday morning on the city’s northeast side on Black Night Boulevard. The girl told officers three men came up to the car and shot through the window. She was shot in the leg.

The first woman to serve as U.S. Attorney General, is dead. Janet Reno, who served the nation during the Bill Clinton administration died early Monday morning at her Miami home, according to her family members, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Current U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has reacted to the news of Reno’s passing, saying she will be dearly missed. Lynch tweeted that, “Janet Reno was an inspiration and trailblazer for so many women in law enforcement and government — including me.” Reno became Attorney General in 1993. Reno died at age 78.

The FBI Director says the bureau isn’t changing its conclusions that Hillary Clinton didn’t commit a crime when she used a private email server as Secretary of State. In a letter to Congress over the weekend, James Comey wrote that FBI agents examined thousands of newly discovered emails and didn’t find any reason to change their opinion from July. So as Clinton indicated–there’s no there, there. GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump has renewed his efforts to convince his supporters that in light of the FBI’s move, by telling them this election is “rigged” and that this was an example.

Americans are ready for the race between the two most unpopular presidential candidates ever to be over. The latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll shows Clinton leading Trump, 47-percent to 43-percent. Trump leads the unpopularity contest. Sixty percent of people surveyed view the Republican nominee negatively, while 56-percent have a negative view of his Democratic rival.
Despite this one poll of many, both presidential candidates will be scrambling for last-minute votes on this day before the general election. Trump will hit five key states for his campaign Monday. He’ll start his day in Florida before heading to North Carolina and Pennsylvania. His evening finishes with rallies in New Hampshire and Michigan. Clinton will also be in Pennsylvania, Michigan and North Carolina Monday. One of those events is in Philadelphia, where she’ll be joined by President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, her husband former-President Bill Clinton and her daughter Chelsea Clinton. She ends the day with a midnight rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. President Obama will also appear in Durham, North Carolina on behalf of Clinton.

Jury selection is set to begin on this busy Monday in the trial of the man accused of killing nine people inside a Charleston, South Carolina black church. Self-described white supremacist Dylann Roof is charged in federal court with shooting and killing nine people, including the church’s pastor, during bible study at iconic Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the city last year.

Congrats to the Indianapolis Colts. They got the win over the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field on Sunday. That final score was 31 to 26, plus one squirrel for luck.

A persistent squirrel livened up the crowd and stole the show at Lambeau Field. The ‘fast-moving fur-babie’ first made its appearance in the first half, then returned late in the third quarter. With the Packers driving at about the Colts 12, the squirrel scampered along the goal line, forcing the officials to call timeout. The squirrel finally went out of bounds, but not before causing becoming the source of many memes on and the topic of conversation on social media. No one is sure which team the squirrel was rooting for.
