Violence on the city’s east side has police busy Friday morning.

Metro Police are searching for who shot and killed a person early Friday morning. WTHR-TV reported police were called to the 900 block of North Tecumseh after a person was found shot multiple times around 5 a.m. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. IMPD has no suspects at this time and has not released the victim’s identity. If you know anything about the city’s latest homicide, call Crime Stoppers. The lawyers of for-profit college, ITT, are telling Indiana state regulators the school will file bankruptcy soon. But the school itself isn’t saying much of anything. ITT is set to close its Carmel office today where a few employees remain. The school closed its campuses earlier this month after the federal government shut off its access to federal student loan dollars. Students are still trying to figure out what all of this means for them, and make their next moves for their class credits and any student loans they took out to pay for classes at that school. The remaining employees will also lose their jobs.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Pacers Sports and Entertainment has joined forces with the Indianapolis Chapter of Indiana Black Expo and the family of the late Expo leader Reverend Charles Williams to raise awareness and funds to help stop the disease in its tracks. Indiana State Police are investigating voter registration forms found in Marion and Hendricks counties that are allegedly fraudulent. Officials say a group called Indiana Voter Registration Project turned in forged applications. They’re accused of altering the information of voters who had already registered. Secretary of State Connie Lawson is encouraging voters to check their registrations to make sure they’re accurate.

Dollars, dollars, and more dollars. It’s a fact, Indiana’s race for the U.S. Senate is getting more expensive. The race to replace Dan Coats is already one of the most expensive in the nation, and it’s a crucial game-changer. Indiana could decide which political party controls the Senate. The Democratic Senate Majority PAC announced on Thursday it’s spending $700,000 on ads that blast Republican Todd Young’s comments on Social Security. Their effort is to support Democrat Evan Bayh in his bid to return to the Hill.

Speaking of money…A Powerball ticket sold here in Indiana is worth a million dollars. The Hoosier Lottery says the ticket matched all five numbers but not the Powerball number from the September 14th drawing. Check your pockets. It was purchased at the Speedway in Lebanon. The numbers from the drawing are 10-11-23-28-31 and the Powerball number is 14.

Federal funding to aid Flint, Michigan in tackling its water crisis is now past its first hurdle. The U.S. Senate approved legislation Thursday to provide emergency funding to fix water infrastructure in Flint and other communities. The legislation is called the Water Resources Development Act and it would provide subsidized loans for states with a federally declared emergency because of contaminated water. The bill must now pass the House which doesn’t at this time have Flint water provisions in its versions of the bill.

Donald Trump’s campaign says the Republican nominee believes President Barack Obama was born on American soil. Trump, isn’t saying it himself. The campaign released the statement Thursday following Trump’s refusal to answer the question during a Washington Post interview on Wednesday. Trump told the paper he’ll answer the question when the time is right. Trump is noted as giving fire and credibility to the ‘birther movement’ which accused the president of not being an American.

Hillary Clinton is downplaying tightening polls. At a news briefing in North Carolina Thursday, the Democratic nominee said she always knew the race would be highly competitive. Clinton resumed campaigning after her bout with pneumonia. Clinton said she should have taken time off earlier.
