No flick is able to knock “Suicide Squad” off the top of the weekend box office, at the moment–try as they might. The comic-book movie with a powerhouse ensemble cast, starring Oscar-nominated actor Will Smith and Oscar-nominated, Tony-winning actress Viola Davis, stayed number one for the third consecutive week, pulling in a little more than $20 million for the weekend and bringing its worldwide total to $500 million. Coming in at number two was “Sausage Party,” followed by “War Dogs” to round out the top three.
“Kubo and the Two Strings” and the remake of “Ben-Hur,” featuring Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman, grossed by industry standards, a disappointing $11.4 million.
