'96 Hours - Taken 3' Berlin Premiere

Hollywood is once again turning to hip-hop for a great story.

According to reports, Forest Whitaker will co-produce Roxanne Roxanne, a feature about the 1980s Roxanne hip-hop wars in New York. The film will tell the story of 14-year-old Roxanne Shante, who became a superstar and was involved in one of the biggest hip-hop beefs ever.

With the success of biopics like Straight Outta Compton, this movie has the chance to not only entertain audiences, but to tell the story of one of the genre’s greatest trailblazers.

No word on when the feature will debut, but Michael Larnell will direct, and Whitaker will be joined in production by Nina Yang Bongiovi, Mimi Valdés, and Erica Brady.
