Civil rights attorney Randolph McLaughlin said he believes the ad violates New York City Human Rights Law because it discriminates. A press representative for the show (written by Lin-Manuel Miranda that puts a Hip-Hop spin on the life and death of one of the founding father’s of this country, U.S. Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton) said the ad’s language was approved by the Broadway union, Actors Equity, but the union general counsel says the language was not approved.
