Ledisi for President! Well…not quite but the 9x Grammy-nominated singer is currently in DC on the Hill advocating for the arts.

Following a speech about the importance of veterans, the elderly and people with disabilities having access to creative outlets, Ledisi did an impromptu performance.

In 15 seconds she snatched our edges and our souls with her rendition of Simon & Garfunkel‘s classic, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”

“After my speech…No singing allowed on The Hill. #BeingDefiantForChange” she captioned on the video that’s since gone viral.

For her service work Ledisi was recently presented with The Advocacy Award by The United States Conference of Mayors.

“Like spotting a unicorn. An impossible combination. Humble. Powerful. Graceful. Spirit-filled. Instrument of God’s grace. Proud to award Ledisi and thank her for never forgetting where she came from. And creating bridges for the next generation to reach their greatness,” said Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to the singer.
