A female rap group from the 70’s and 80’s is claiming one of their songs inspired “Uptown Funk.”  The Sequence put out a song in 1979 called “Funk You Up,” and say parts of the song were used in Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s hit.  Though no lawsuit has been filed yet, the band’s representative has threatened to sue.

So if you happen to have that 12 inch single by the Sequence on Sugarhill records…take that ‘listener test.’
