Reggie Wayne’s stay in New England was only two weeks.
The former Indianapolis Colt asked for his release Saturday as reported by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport via a source close to the veteran wide receiver. Wayne is evaluating options for his future, a source told NFL Media’s Rand Getlin.
Wayne in two preseason games caught 2 passes for 24 yards after landing a 450K signing bonus on Aug.24.
This could be the end for the 36 year old who played through a torn triceps in addition to knee and elbow injuries last season.
His 14,345 receiving yards are the eighth-most in NFL history, just 235 behind former teammate Marvin Harrison.
..And a sigh of relief for Colts fans who were ‘not so happy’ that Reggie Wayne signed with the hated Patriots in the first place.
