The American Ballet Theatre’s first black female principal dancer is heading to The Great White Way.  “Variety” reports Misty Copeland will join the cast of “On the Town” for two weeks beginning August 25th.  The ballerina who grew up in Southern California will portray Ivy Smith in the Broadway classic that also became an MGM musical costarring Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra.  “On the Town” is based on a Jerome Robbins ballet called “Fancy Free” that was first performed by ABT in 1944.
