The Indiana Healthy Marriage and Family Coalition will address the issue of restoring fathers in the Indianapolis community after stints of incarceration to a path of productivity. They’re holding a community program that you can attend for free called the Fatherhood Forum 17: “Are We There Yet? The Road Passed Reentry to Restoration.” They hope to help fathers, and mothers too, find practical ways with the appropriate tools for people with criminal records and felonies in particular, to move forward in their lives where they can be contributing neighbors, community members and tax-paying citizens.
The two-hour program begins at 6 p.m. tonight, May 12, at the East 38th Street Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, 5420 E. 38th Street. It will feature a variety of experts and speakers including, Judge Geoffrey Gaither (often heard here on “Access Indy with Kim Wells” as half of the 106.7 WTLC show’s legal analysis team), Carlette Duffy (an employment coach), Damon Lane (an official with the Mayor’s Office of Re-entry), and attorney Mark Nicholson. They also plan to serve dinner at the event.
