It’s National “Get Fit, Don’t Sit” Day. Did you know that sitting in an office chair for more than 90 minutes at a time can slowly start to negatively affect your health? It’s true according to the American Diabetes Association. The ADA says what seems like harmlessly staying in your chair at work, actually increases your risk of diabetes and heart problems. A spokesman for the ADA gives us a few tips to break up the monotony, get active at the office and help your health at the same time:

  • Have a walking meeting.
  • Stand during conference calls.
  • And if you absolutely have to sit, sit on a balancing ball. The ball helps you to use core muscles, and can increase your lung and heart capacity.
