March 10 is the day set aside to mark National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, an annual observation here in the U.S. that shines a light on the impact of this disease particularly on women and girls. This year is the 10th anniversary of the observation. Health and community organizations provide HIV testing and other awareness education designed to provide support and hope; reduce stigma, and empower women and girls. They  also encourage women to do all they can to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to get infected women and girls into effective care and treatment. As of 2015, roughly one in four people who are living with HIV in this country are women aged 13 or older. To learn more, click HERE. To learn where you can take a free HIV test, click HERE.
