A SWAT scene developed on Indy’s west side after a deadly shooting Tuesday morning. Metro police cornered a suspect in a home in the 3600 block of Creston Drive, near Rockville Road. Police think this suspect was involved in an early morning shooting that left one person dead and another in critical condition fighting for his life at Eskenazi Hospital. Both victims were shot in the head around 4 a.m. in the 100 block of North Sheffield Ave. This story is developing. Click HERE for more details.

A four-year-old child is in serious condition after falling about 40-feet at Castleton Square Mall on the city’s north side.  Investigators say the boy was on an escalator in Burlington Coat Factory Monday evening when he plummeted from the second floor to the first floor. He’s said to be in serious condition at Riley Hospital.

IMPD says a shooting that killed a 13-year-old boy was gang related. According to investigators, Ashton Harting died early Monday morning after being shot in a neighborhood near East 38th Street and North Post Road.  Investigators are investigating this case to determine why the victim was killed.

The Zionsville school board is cutting their annual pay from $2,000 to $1.  President Shari Richey told television station, WRTV that the district is among the lowest funded in the state per student so the move made sense.  Zionsville Superintendent Dr. Scott Robinson called the salary cut “inspiring.”

President Obama will deliver his sixth State of the Union address tonight. Obama will speak to Congress and the nation at 9 p.m. Eastern and is expected to propose new taxes on the wealthy. Two hoosiers are there to attend. They are Indianapolis Metro Police Department Chief Rick Hite, who is attending as a guest of Congresswoman Susan Brooks and Sharon Cranfill, of Connersville, who was invited by Senator Joe Donnelly. Cranfill runs the House of Ruth that helps people recover from drug addictions.

Indianapolis jazz and neo-soul vocalist Cynthia Layne, one of the most popular singers in Indy died Sunday. A staple at venues like the Jazz Kitchen, the Indy Arts Garden and the Indianapolis Jazz Fest, and was very popular in the Super Bowl village, Layne successfully battled breast cancer in 2012 then had a cancer recurrence last year. Japan’s prime minister is demanding the immediate release of two Japanese men held by ISIS militants. ISIS released a video online Tuesday showing two Japanese men the terrorist group says it will kill unless Japan pays $200 million in less than 72 hours from now.

The NFL is investigating whether the New England Patriots intentionally deflated balls during Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against our Indianapolis Colts. An NFL spokesman confirmed the NFL is looking into the matter and said Monday afternoon there was no further update in this #deflategate controversy.

The Pacers took it on the chin in a 110-98 loss to the Rockets Monday.  They’ve dropped their fifth straight and head to Atlanta Wednesday night.
