The husband of former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is coming out against rumors of domestic violence. Film producer Stephen Belafonte has taken to Twitter to slam fan speculation that arose after Mel’s appearance on the live “X Factor U.K.” finale on Sunday night. Fans had tweeted that patches of Mel’s arms and face seemed bruised and scratched. Furthering the rumors was the noticeable absence of her wedding ring, as well as the fact that she’d been rushed to the hospital for an unknown illness last Thursday. She’d also missed Saturday’s episode of the show because of the hospital visit.
Belafonte, however, writes that the abuse rumors are “disgusting” and “untrue.” He’s not giving any details about Mel’s health, but did say she was “very ill.” He also suggests that her fans should “just relax” and avoid “being negative.”
