President Obama Speaks At The National Action Network Awards Gala

On the heels of all the sexual assault allegations, Bill Cosby has remained quiet for the most part, until last night. The embattled entertainer found himself in front as a very friendly audience Friday night in Melbourne, Florida.

Even as Cosby’s tour is being plagued with cancellations, the 77 year old joked about his usual subjects of family, wives and childhood. The cheering audience greeted the comedy legend with a standing ovation when he took the stage and another when he finished.

The standing ovations shows that Cosby still has supporters even as shows in Oklahoma, Nevada, Illinois, Arizona, South Carolina and Washington State, were called off as more women came forward to accuse the entertainer of sexually assaulting them many years ago.

Cosby has never been charged in connection with any of these allegations, and surprisingly he finally spoke about his situation to the Florida crowd.

“I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn’t have to answer to innuendos,” Cosby told the newspaper after the show. “People should fact check. People shouldn’t have to go through that and shouldn’t answer to innuendos.”

Tom Werner, who co-founded the Carsey-Werner Company which produced “The Cosby Show,” defended Cosby in a statement to the Boston Globe.

“The Bill we knew was a brilliant and wonderful collaborator on a show that changed the landscape of television,” Werner and partner Marcy Carsey said in the statement. “These recent news reports are beyond our knowledge or comprehension.”
