Boyz II Men expressed in their latest interview with Huff Post how their way of style back in the day made them different from other male groups like Jodeci. While Jodeci would wear more urban clothes like saggy pants and boots; you might find Boyz II Men ont he other side of the fashion spectrum dressing very preppy. The R&B group address that they didn’t dress like your “average guys in the hood”. The group stood out for their unique style of dress and was even made fun of for it.

“To our peers in the music experience, we didn’t encompass the ‘black experience’ because of what we were wearing and things of that nature. At the end of the day, we felt like we represented not only our race, but our city, Philadelphia,” member Shawn Stockman told host Marc Lamont Hill. “We knew it would open doors for artists and groups that would come after us. We always kept that in mind, regardless of whether black folks looked at us as cool or not.”
