little girl with bubblesWhat a beautiful start to the weekend.  A Mother’s Day weekend at that.  Check out some of events listed below, some are free and others are not too expensive to keep money in your pocket as summer is fast approaching.

  • Gates opened at 7am at IMS, Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a celebration of Automobiles. Races going on all day plus the IMS Kids zone opens at 10am and runs til 5pm and the race begins at 3:30pm.  For more information click on www.ims.com/ or give them a call at 317.492.8500.
  • The wonderful Butterfly Kaleidoscope is still open at White River Gardens along with the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens.  Three exhibits for one price…nice.  Click on www.indianapoliszoo.com/ for more details.
  • Free, free and FREE!! That’s right with the Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day on Monument Circle.  Indy’s largest outdoor festival for kids with games, activities and much more.  Plus check out the 106.7 WTLC family while you’re out there.  The fun starts at 10am and last til 2pm. www.500festival.com/KidsDay for a list of activities including the Rookie Run.
  • Part of the Inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis presents Indy Lights Warm-up at the Motor Speedway at 10am.  Plus a lot of other activities continuing up until the start of the race.  Plus there’s a kids area if the kids get restless while the race is on.
  • It’s the 9th Annual Southport Street Fair in Marion County.  Visit the art show, shop, live entertainment plus kids games and more at this one day event at City Park.  For more details on this free event click on www.southportevents.org/.
  • Take a deep look into the art of wine-making with Grape to Glass Winery Tour at Easley Winery off of College Ave.  See how wine is made from the harvest to the bottle, no reservations required.  See www.easleywinery.com/tours.html.
  • Take a carriage ride with one of the great tours with Blue Ribbon and Yellow Rose Carriage Tours.  No telling how long they’ll be around so enjoy an evening on a horse-drawn carriage.  See www.blueribboncarriages.com or www.indycarriage.com for information.

  • Your Indianapolis Indians are at it again this evening as they battle against the Norfolk Tides at Victory Field (weather permitting).  Tickets still available for this game and can be obtained through Ticketmaster.com or by checking the website at www.indyindians.com/.
