Saturday morning in Indy will be accompanied by the sounds of feet hitting the city’s pavement as the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon gets underway. More than 30,ooo people are expected to flood the streets of downtown. Event organizers reported yesterday that the field is 95 percent full and said there were about two thousand spots still open. Expect traffic backups and delays as the runners make their way through town. The course winds through west side downtown neighborhoods and around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before returning downtown to the finish line and celebration. All participants must pick up their registration packets Friday by 9 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center in halls F and G.

The Indiana Pacers will also keep the afternoon in downtown jumping as the last matchup of the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference quarterfinals is played.  The Pacers are still alive after grabbing a win in Game Six with the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night 95-88 on the road. On Saturday, Game Seven will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with the series tied at three games a-piece. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. Eastern.
