NFL prospect Michael Sam could become pro football’s first openly gay player, and some reactions have been supportive, while others have had trouble accepting the situation. Sam’s dad told the New York Times,

“Deacon Jones is turning over in his grave.”

Former Indianapolis Colts player Raheem Brock also weighed in on the topic. When asked by TMZ Sports for his thoughts on Sam’s announcement, Brock said,

“It’s going to open up some doors, I know that for sure. It might get a little crazy, I don’t know. It’s interesting to see what’s going to happen with him coming out.”

When asked how a pro football locker room would deal with Sam and the aspect of showering with a gay athlete, Brock replied,

“Something is going to happen where everybody is not going to be comfortable with that. You’ve got 60 to 70 guys on a team that you have to deal with. Everyone is coming from a different background. Something like that is going to affect the team and everybody’s focus.

“The guys aren’t going to go in the shower if they know a guy is gay in there. They’re going to feel uncomfortable. I would. I’d probably stay in my locker and chill until he’s done getting out of the shower.”
