To make the day even more enjoyable, you can curl up with family members, staying in your pajamas all day, lying around the den, each with their own book. Or, for even more fun, maybe you can share a book or two. Reading with younger children can be a good bonding time and is lots of fun.

Another fun activity is playing board games with the children. This keeps them occupied when they can’t get outside, and gives you some quality time with them. There are games for all ages.

If there is a movie you have been wanting to watch, a gloomy rainy day is the ideal time for that. You can’t do much else, so won’t feel like you are wasting time. Get that bowl of popcorn, your favorite beverage, and curl up in a big easy chair and indulge.

This type of day is perfect for pursuing a craft project you have been wanting to start. Be sure to have all the supplies, patterns, etc. gathered together before the rain starts. It is a good idea to have a large tub or basket available in which to put all the things you will need. When the rain starts, grab the basket and get to work.

Believe it or not, cleaning house is another great activity for a rainy day. Tackle that corner that has been bugging you, getting it organized and cleaned. The sense of satisfaction you will feel at the accomplishment will drive away any gloom you may be feeling.

Another fun activity for such a gloomy day is scrap booking. Dig out all those old pictures you have been meaning to organize. Make a few scrap book pages, embellishing them with suitable small items, and enjoying the photos as you go. Again, be sure to have all the supplies you will need in a basket or tub. Don’t forget stickers, small, flat decorative items, acid-free papers, fancy scissors, and, of course, lots of pictures.

When it’s gloomy – it’s a good time to chill with your family and have some family fun time.
