(Los Angeles, CA)  —  “The Last Exorcism” spooked “Takers” to take number one at the box office this weekend.  The psychological thriller from Lionsgate beat “Takers” by only 300-thousand dollars in ticket sales.   “Exorcism” saw 21-point-three million dollars in box office receipts to “Takers” 21-million even.  Falling to third place was Sylvester Stallone’s action flick, “The Expendables” at nine-and-a-half million dollars.  It was in first last week.  “Eat, Pray, Love” brought in seven million dollars to take fourth place, while “The Other Guys” remained in fifth place with six-point-six million dollars in ticket sales. 

Meanwhile, “Inception” moved up a couple notches from ninth to seventh.  “Inception” is still in the top ten after its July 16th release and has racked up nearly 271-million dollars in ticket sales so far.  The next-highest grossing film in the top ten list, “The Other Guys,” has 99-million dollars in box office receipts.
