The Fix: Jussie Smollett’s Netflix Doc Drops August 22
Jussie Smollett is preparing to tell his side through a new Netflix documentary. The film is titled The Truth About Jussie Smollett? and premieres August 22. Smollett revealed the project during a meeting with community leaders in Chicago. He says the documentary will include footage never shown during his trial.
The video reportedly came through a FOIA request and was not available in 2021. Smollett was convicted of disorderly conduct after claiming he was attacked in 2019. He said two men targeted him with racist and homophobic slurs in downtown Chicago. Investigators later accused him of staging the incident and misleading police.
Smollett now says the new footage supports his version of the story.
The film will include a direct interview with Smollett and unseen case material. The case drew national attention and divided public opinion across media and politics. Netflix has not released an official trailer but confirmed the release date. Smollett continues to maintain his innocence and says the film will show new facts.
The documentary is expected to stir conversation ahead of its late summer release.
That’s The Fix.
