Biggie’s Estate Finalizes Sale of Catalog
The late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.‘s catalog has been sold to Primary Wave after receiving approval from his mother, Voletta Wallace, just before her recent passing. The financial details of the deal
have not been disclosed, but previous reports alleged that Biggie’s publishing rights were up for about $100 million, and his master rights at around $30-$50 million – and that the deal gives Primary
Wave 50 percent to both rights, as well as his name and likeness. Voletta Wallace, who managed Biggie’s estate and grew it significantly, passed away last month, sparking controversy over the sale of
the catalog. Despite concerns raised by Diddy’s former bodyguard Gene Deal, it remains unclear how much Biggie’s children will benefit from the deal.
