INDIANAPOLIS — President Trump recently determined that immigration officers can arrest people at places like churches and schools. Some Hoosier school districts are not in favor of this.

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) says it is “committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students and families, regardless of immigration status.” So, it has put together a list of resources for “undocumented” Hoosiers.

The district has determined that it will not allow ICE officers into schools without warrants, and will make sure officers are fully following the law. It also will “not ask about or disclose immigration status.”

Fort Wayne Community Schools are among others telling parents they will not share anyone’s immigration status with authorities. They want students and families to “feel safe and welcome at school.”
