Hallmark Did Not Want to Cast ‘Old People’ Like Holly Robinson Peete Suit Claims

Former Hallmark Channel casting director Penny Perry has filed an age discrimination lawsuit against the network, alleging that executive Lisa Hamilton Daly wanted to replace “old people” like Holly Robinson Peete and Lacey Chabert. Perry, 79, claims she was fired in April after nine years with the company and was told she was “too long in the tooth.” The lawsuit alleges that Daly wanted to bring in someone focused on finding “new talent” as the network’s leading ladies were “aging out.” Hallmark denied the allegations but did not comment further on the pending litigation. Perry also claims that the network failed to accommodate her disability and pushed her out despite receiving strong performance evaluations. Daly, who joined Hallmark in 2021, previously worked at Netflix and A+E Networks. Robinson Peete and Chabert, both long-time Hallmark veterans, have upcoming projects with the network.
