Today is all about us, ladies! Black Girls Day Off is a movement encouraging Black women everywhere to step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s a call to rest, recharge, and reclaim our time in a world that often demands so much from us. And I don’t know about you, but I’m all in!

Black Girls Day Off: Extend It to the Weekend with This Self-Care Guide

But let me tell you something: I say we extend this day off to the whole weekend. You deserve that and more! It’s not just about taking time off from work—it’s about taking time off from everything. That constant grind, those never-ending to-do lists, and even the emotional labor we’re always carrying. Sis, let it go this weekend.

Here’s a list of self-care ideas you can indulge in over the next few days to make the most of your Black Girls Weekend Off:

  1. Unplug and Unwind – Turn off your notifications, put the phone on Do Not Disturb, and just be present in your space.
  2. Pamper Yourself – Schedule that massage, take a bubble bath, or do an at-home facial. Let your skin and spirit glow!
  3. Get Outdoors – Take a walk, enjoy the fall air, and soak up nature. Sometimes a little fresh air is all the clarity you need.
  4. Start Journaling – Reflect on where you are and where you want to go. Gratitude, goals, or simply getting those thoughts out of your head can work wonders.
  5. Try Something New – Maybe it’s a new recipe, yoga class, or simply rearranging your living space. Give your mind a break by focusing on something refreshing.
  6. Catch Up on Rest – Sleep in, nap, lounge… whatever you need to do to let your body reset. Rest is revolutionary!
  7. Binge Listen to the Exhale Podcast – Join me on Exhale: A Black Woman’s Guide to Mental Health, where we dig deep into conversations about rest, healing, and everything we need to be our best selves. Catch up on episodes right here: Exhale Podcast

Let this weekend be a reminder to pour back into yourself. We give so much to everyone else—it’s time to make you a priority. Let me know how you’re spending your Black Girls Weekend Off.
