Jonathan Majors was set to play the supervillain Kang The Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but was fired after being convicted of reckless assault and harassment.
Marvel Studios announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the next two Avengers films will focus on “Doctor Doom” instead. The films have been renamed Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with Robert Downey Jr. replacing Majors as the “Big Bad.”
Despite the setback, Majors seems to be in a better place now, but Xitter users couldn’t resist making jokes about the situation and how Majors must feel about losing out on the part.
Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea, tweeted, “If you mad, they got Robert Downey Jr to play Doctor Doom. Just know you lucky they didn’t ask him to just replace Jonathan Majors as Kang.” Jackson’s comment accompanied a photo of RDJ in Tropical Thunder.
