California Congresswoman Maxine Waters is planning to use her new power as chair of the House Financial Services Committee to push for more diversity in corporate America. Politico reports the L.A. Democrat is proposing the creation of a subcommittee focused on the inclusion of more woman and minorities. Senior members of her committee are preparing to introduce bills that would force companies to disclose the gender and racial makeup of company boards. Waters says promoting diversity in financial services is one of the top priorities on her consumer-focused agenda.
