Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is getting a 40-game suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy.  A statement from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred today said that after reviewing all the evidence, he concluded that Russell violated the league’s policy.  The suspension is retroactive to September 21st, the date Russell was put on leave after his ex-wife detailed claims of domestic abuse.  He was not on the Cubs wild-card roster last night when they lost to the Colorado Rockies, ending their season.  The rest of the unpaid suspension will be enforced at the beginning of the 2019 season.
