Five People Shot In Seattle

Five people were shot–two critically in downtown Seattle on Wednesday. Police officials there say an argument led to this shooting. Police say this incident was not related to an anti-Trump protest rally nearby, where thousands of protesters marched through the area many of them chanting “not my president” and other slogans. This multiple-shooting leaves two people hospitalized in critical condition today, while authorities report the remaining three victims–two men and a woman–listed in satisfactory condition. Police are searching for a suspect, who fled the scene, after this shooting which happened outside a 7-Eleven convenience store.  The suspect is described only as a man.  No other details about the suspect are available at this time.

Five Police Officers Shot In Pittsburgh During Standoff With Suspect

A manhunt is underway in a suburban area of Pittsburgh as police search for a gunman who shot two police officers early Thursday morning. One of those officers has now died. Both officers were shot during a SWAT situation in the town of Canonsburg, about 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. Police have told people who live in the area to stay in their homes as they continue to search for this deadly shooter.

President-elect Donald Trump is now in the nation’s capital for his meeting today with President Barack Obama. The two men will meet in the Oval Office as a formal transition of government gets underway. President Obama addressed the nation on Wednesday noting big differences with Trump but he pledged a smooth and successful transition of power, calling it a hallmark of democracy. While Obama and Trump meet, First Lady Michelle Obama will be giving Melania Trump a tour of the White House’s private residence. Trump has meetings this afternoon with GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at the Capitol. Meantime, Vice President Joe Biden will host a private meeting with Vice President-elect Mike Pence.

Speaking of Pence, he is due back in Indiana today. A ‘Welcome Home Rally’ is planned for the VP-elect later today at 5:30 p.m. EST. It will be held at the International Airport Building, near Million Air Terminal, 6921 Pierson Drive. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
